If there was one person responsible for me owning Copper Star Coffee, it was my dear friend Kara Smith. She was the one who convinced me to become a manager for Starbucks back in 1996. That didnt work out so well, but I tried three more times to open a coffeehouse of my own. And now, shes gone. All the ground we covered, all the laughs we had. The greenslips, the Iced Americanos, the kanji letters. All gone into the ether. There is another world beyond this one. Somewhere a bunch of unrepentant TGIF Marina del Rey employees will hold court, cashing in our Get out of Hell Free cards. Ill see you on the Other Side, sister.
