If you are feeling down on life and where you are, want to know - TopicsExpress

If you are feeling down on life and where you are, want to know more about me, or youre bored--read below. I woke up thinking that I needed to share this today: 6 years ago I graduated college with a Bachelors of Fine Arts. I thought that this meant that I would instantly get a job right out of college and be set...I was wrong. BUT 3 months later I got a job at as an Advertising Executive with a yellow pages and media company and was making upwards of 5 figures a month. I wasted lots of money (I still think of that now) on stupid things. Then almost 2 years later I was fired from that job out of nowhere. It turned my world upside down because I was not being smart with my money, my relationship (with an ex) was horrible (I kicked him out of my house), and I put in resume after resume and no one would hire me. I ended up going back to Buffalo Wild Wings my pre-college job and worked my butt off to pay for my house, health insurance, bills...and going out (as I did ALL THE TIME then). I was a bit embarrassed but a LOT of us waiting tables there had degrees, wanted something else in life, etc. but were in the same boat. I was a little embarrassed because I was 25 with a degree waiting tables, some of my old customers from my corporate job would come in which embarrassed me even more, AND I was one of the oldest people working there (there were like 10 of us 25 and older--my friend Kellen who worked there *who is older than me* called us the Buffalo Wild Wings Geriatric Team). Going back to this job humbled me and made me more appreciative and a better person in the long run. The management was amazing and supportive (unlike my previous corporate job), I made lifelong friends (though I did at my previous job as well), and I was making probably less than 1/4 of what I was making at the last job, but somehow had a lot more money. Also my best friend Alexis came and worked there with me which she clearly didnt need to do and we had a blast. I took another job in an office as an Office Manager and between the 2 jobs was working 80+ hours a week. I learned from the corporate job how to sell, about what sells the internet to people, and how to talk to the corporate world. At Buffalo Wild Wings I learned how to make customers happy, how food can wow or upset people, and what good management is. And at the office job I learned all about Quickbooks, AutoCAD, and again lifelong customer service skills (and lots about sociopaths but thats another story). This enabled me to branch out and start Bayou Web Solutions--I had taken lots of web design and development classes in the past and this coupled with the sales and customer service skills that I learned has me busy with more customers than I can handle at most times. Along the way I had some business ideas fail and lose me money (A Lakeside Theatre/JJW Group LLC) but everything was a learning experience. My point in writing this is that if you are in a position in life that you feel stuck in, get yourself out however you can. Dont be afraid to let go and do what you have to do in order to take care of you. Dont be embarrassed. Everything truly happens for a reason.
