If you are reading this you are lucky that you still have power or a device that still has a charge on it. As you rise this morning you may be surprised that you slept through the night. As Typhoon Vongfong made landfall it was weakened tremendously. The worst of the storm occurred on Saturday, with the east side of the island taking the brunt of the storm, and thousands of homes without power throughout the island. Here’s the gist of it. We will remain in TC-1E as long as winds of 50 knots sustained or greater are occurring at a particular installation, which includes as far north as Camp Schwab. Once we switch to RECOVERY all non-emergency essential personnel will remain indoors while damage assessment and cleanup is accomplished. This is for your safety as hazardous areas are identified, down power lines, flooding, etc. Once STORM WATCH is declared all military and civilian personnel will return to work within 2 hours or as directed by their unit commander. Base facilities and services will reopen unless directed otherwise. So don’t start asking questions, don’t pick up the phone, give people some time to get to work! Keep your secured outdoor items secured! Once ALL CLEAR is declared resume normal activities. Begin general cleanup around homes and facilities. Thank you for your time and patience.
