If you are reading this, you’ve just been challenged. I challenge you to 100 days of #supportblackbizonly. In the wake of the violent and unjust deaths of Black people, it is now time to act. It is time for us to focus on how change can truly occur. We have to speak to America in the language that they can understand…money. Black people are a large consumer base in America. We have the power to control where our money goes and whom we support. In the early 1900’s in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Black Wall Street was born. This was one of few instances where Blacks sustainably owned all businesses. Money circulated 36 to 100 times in the community. 600 successful businesses! Churches, a transit system, banks, restaurants, retail shopping, grocery stores, hotels, even a hospital! It was comparable to modern day “Beverly Hills. Out of the ashes of Black Wall St., we can rebirth this ideology. The straw has broken the camels back. They won’t stop killing us until we take a stand that can put them in a corner. We can talk about healing, but like a putting a bandaid on a cut, it is not enough. We need to find out how to stop getting cut. Put your money where your mouth is and support “us.” No matter what race you are, if you want Mike Brown, Eric Garner, Trayvon Martin, Akai Gurley, Emmett Till, Amadou Diallo, Milton Hall, Kimani Gray, Kendrec McDade, Ervin Jefferson, Ousmane Zango, Timothy Stansbury Jr., Sean Bell, Orlando Barlow, Aaron Campbell, Victor Steen, Yvette Smith, Eleanor Bumpurs, Aiyana Stanley-Jones, Tarika Wilson…I can tragically continue...Folks if you want change, If you truly want change, then spend your change else where. This holiday season; make your voice heard and support black businesses only. #supportblackbizonly 100 day challenge!
