If you bought a very nice gift for a friend while away on a trip, and then two weeks later had a big fight with him/her, resulting in you no longer speaking to each other; upon going back home, when you see him/her again, do you give them the gift you had bought for him/her, or do you keep it, for fear that you may appear to be using material things to suck up or buy an apology, especially when the reality is that you were the one in the wrong?
