If you buy all of your insurance products from third parties, the excise tax is paid by them (and no doubt, passed on to you with higher premiums.) However, if your company has anything that is self-insured, this could effect you: Employers Must Pay New Excise Tax on Self-Insured Health Plans By July 31 Plans subject to the fee -Self-insured medical plans or medical reimbursement plans -Prescription drug plans -Self-insured dental or vision plans, if provided without a separate election or premium charge -Health reimbursement arrangements (HRAs) -Retiree-only health plans (even though some are exempt from other PPACA mandates)
