If you dont know what metadata is, its equivalent to the DNA cells - TopicsExpress

If you dont know what metadata is, its equivalent to the DNA cells one sheds daily but its virtual DNA cells instead of natural. For instance, any electronic communication device you use generates and leaves behind trace elements (metadata) regarding your personal behavior as it relates to your usage of a given communication technology. Bus this metadata is not just limited to communication technology. Credit/debit card usage generates massive amounts of highly personal metadata which undoubtedly is stored. The invasive potential for the use and application of metadata comes into play when metadata is amalgamated, meaning, all the metadata you emit (e.g. internet surfing, credit card use, cellphone usage, electronic discount cards, etc.) is consolidated into a single body of information about you. These pieces of information in and of themselves seem benign on the surface. However, when you access one piece of information in relation to another they hint at or even reveal things like your innermost thoughts, what motives you, what turns you on, what pisses you off, your political ideology, your latent desires, etc. For instance, metadata can and is likely captured not just on what websites you visit, particularly when no ones around, but how long you view an image on a page as well as the correlation between the information/images on a page and what you click next. In a nutshell, the invasive potential of metadata is created by providing a direct view into ones behavior and thought process (e.g. I viewed/thought this then responded my clicking that... I spoke to this person and subsequently purchased that...). This metadata is so comprehensive, it virtually can be used effectively to perform psychoanalysis on a person without ever receiving a persons consent to such or without that person ever having done anything to warrant such scrutiny. The basic tenets of psychoanalysis include the following: 1) besides the inherited constitution of personality, a persons development is determined by events in early childhood; 2) human attitude, mannerism, experience, and thought is largely influenced by irrational drives; 3) irrational drives are unconscious; 4) attempts to bring these drives into awareness meet psychological resistance in the form of defense mechanisms; 5) conflicts between conscious and unconscious, or repressed, material can materialise in the form of mental or emotional disturbances, for example: neurosis, neurotic traits, anxiety, depression etc.; 6) the liberation from the effects of the unconscious material is achieved through bringing this material into the conscious mind (via e.g. skilled guidance, i.e. therapeutic intervention). The basic intent of private and government collection of metadata is not only to sell you more products or keep you safe from the bad guys, it is to control populations of people (including you) to whatever ends the government/corporate state deems appropriate.
