( If you have patience, read it and think ......) In yesterdays - TopicsExpress

( If you have patience, read it and think ......) In yesterdays post I talked about mask that people used to weer in daily life in society. Some times its exposure reveals the darkest aspect of society. A real incidence that occurred with me, pertains to year 2005 when I was posted at Rly Check Post Kanpur. The C.P. was maintained in a tented hut alongside the road out side the Kanpur Central Rly Station. Officers had to perform their duties in shifts as per rotation. The social landscape on all side of roads out side KNP. Rly Station was of beggars and the most deprived & vulnerable class of the society. Of these deprived people few were rather regular recipient of charity from the C.P. One of them whom I remember was a woman with her one year old child, looking abnormal and looking very ugly due to black lines & spots on her dirt filled face. One ( winter ) night at about 2.00 AM she suddenly appeared in front of CP ( i.e. tented hut ) lapping her one year child without any ugly black lines and spots on her face. Her face was quite clean and looking good. It was rather surprise for me, so I asked her about those ugly lines & spots on her face. Her reply was simple yet storming, Sahib, agar ham kharab nahin dikhen to ye dunia hame ek din bhi jeene nahin degi. Har aadmi hame nochane ke liye taiyar hai. Kurup dikhana hamari khushi nahin hai, kurup dikhana hamari majboori hai. Me pagal nahin hun sahib. In that chilling night of winter I felt stormed deep inside to know that looking ugly and abnormal was an act of violence towards society that was used as mask to safeguard herself from the vulgaries of the society. It was not due to her fault to look ugly and mentally abnormal. With the warbling sounds of birds my slumber broke up & found a new dawn over the horizon, but the incidence stormed me to think when there will be a dawn for these deprived section of the society.
