Upstairs, Malin’s (the doggie guest) name has been spelt out with dog biscuits, on a table in our sumptuous suite. We find a canine hamper on the bed loaded with his favourite treats, while a Pet In Room’ sign is ready to hang on the outside door handle. “It’s that attention to detail which makes a good hotel into a great one,” explained Mrs Tollman, aged 81. “It’s not good enough to just say a hotel is dog-friendly.
