If you think someone has to be your competitor all the time just because you two are in same business, you are making a mistake. Two people become competitors not when they are offering same products or services. Your competitor is one who snatches away your business. The one you are considering as your competitor may be the one who may get you business, while the one you never had thought as your competitor can also snatch away your business. E.g. (1) One photographer may end up considering another photographer as his/her competitor all the time just because they are offering same thing. But it may happen that, the other photographer may hire him/her for his projects and give him work. E.g. (1) Camera mfg companies might had thought that one day mobile instrument manufacturing companies can come up with high quality inbuilt camera which may give at par or better result compared to compact cameras. Canon- the camera manufacturing company has already admitted that they are facing tough competition from smartphones for their compact cameras. Sales is affected globally. #economics #marketing
