If youre working hard at creating your end results and theyre not - TopicsExpress

If youre working hard at creating your end results and theyre not really happening this might be helpful: what you think or believe or have been taught you have to do...might not be what you have to do. Heres an example. Current conventional wisdom holds that in the new economy we need to build a big social media list, which supposedly will translate to our service or product doing exponentially better. Theres an industry dedicated to teaching us how to build our audience. OK, so this might be working for many people. BUT from what I can tell its NOT working for more than it is. In a mastermind group I belong to we are always pointed to one members FB page as an example of how to do it right. Its a beautiful page with lovely daily messages that get re-posted on other high profile sites. This persons following is huge. And theyre broke!! People love the site but they dont buy the service the person is selling. The same mastermind group recommended a social media guru who has all kinds of awards to their name and hundreds of thousands of followers on every social media platform imaginable. Im not kidding, I went to a presentation they did and there were 20 rag tag, seriously un-monied people in the audience...in LOS ANGELES!!!! I could see by the car this guru arrived at the gig in and the tired clothes they were wearing that they were struggling financially. Now heres the thing, just this last weekend I met someone in the same profession as the first person I mentioned above, and they dont even have 800 friends on Facebook, and they have so many clients they have to turn new business away. Most probably because they put the power in getting their service right...and not in having a beautiful Facebook page full of feelgood messages. Now Im not dissing social media, undoubtedly it can be a powerful tool. My point is that rather than being focused on what it takes to get end results, it pays to be more focused on the end result itself, and from there put energy into where its obvious to be putting it. Its a big mistake to start with working out how it should be done...and especially how everyone else is doing it. Take back the power, put it in the true end result, and let the end result guide you. This is the way of genius.
