~~~Im an African violet~~~ Understand must you know Im a fallen petal Which was once flourished filled all heart with love And outspread beautiful scent To all happy souls Not by my own free will I turned to be this dry bulb I was once plummy and promising When all kind of eyes set on me They used and abused me Due to my past gullible time ~~**~~ Understand must you know Im a wilted rose If I appear gloom Under the bright sunlight If I dont fret to water Its because my roots are rotten ~~**~~ Understand must you know Im an African Violet If I dont sprout through spring And blossom through Summer It’s because Im feared Fear of the known matters ~~**~~ Understand must you know With time I Shall come out of my shell I shall break the cycle of fungus And produce rose petals all over again. © 2011 by _Patricia Etienne All rights reserved Note from author-- this piece is all about my beloved country Haiti; with the hope someday she will rise like time before.
