Im back ... and quite alive, thank you very much. Traditions ... not having a family, or friends, my holiday traditions are rather simple. I stock-up on basics, things I like and things I like occasionally. For the holidays I like a little of everything that I like, or sometimes like. First on the list ... Pickles! I buy one jar of baby dills, and one jar of baby sweets ... VLASIC! Sorry, Del Monte, but I like my pickled crunchy ... and Im a sucker for cute/funny mascots ... like Charlie Tuna and the Groucho Marx pelican. Next on the list is peanut buttter ... use to be Peter Pan, yes, I was upset that Annette did commercials for Skippy, however, Ive since abandoned Peter Pan for Skippy Natural with Honey! Every body needs honey! Now we come to Egg Nog! The best store bought, I have found, is Altadena brand, and I freeze the quarts! I love frozen egg nog ... as it thaws, it gets slushy ... like a milk shake. One iced tea teaspoon and I dive in! This is one of my favorite holiday treats. Why I can never find egg nog ice cream is a mystery to me. I did find a pumpkin cheese cake ice cream at Baskin Robbins ... I liked it ... but it wasnt to live for wonderful. I also love Pumpkin Pie filling ... I hate pie crust, unless were talking turkey pot pie! Next I replenish staples like flour and spices ... these items should always be stored in the fridge for freshness. A rancid jar of spice can be deadly! I also buy a bag of Flax Seed ... because its extremely healthy, and its a great addition to almost everything a person can eat. It give a nutty flavor to everything. I even use it in my fruitcakes! Yes, its great in scrambled eggs as well! It is sometimes difficult to find healthy products to eat that actually taste good ... Flax Seeds is perfect for that! Now, Im not a big fan of pork ... so, I have my basic Hawaiian Style Turkey dinner of Thanksgiving and for Christmas, as well. I love turkey, and its much healthier than chicken. Another plus with turkey ... you dont see anyone doing inhuman things to turkeys, not like they do to chickens! I would never date anyone that worked in a chicken factory ... these people are generally disgusting little sadists, and most are clueless to just how horrid of a person they really are! Believe me, Ive seen the true life films that often bring me to tears! mcdonaldscruelty/ ... I steer away from chicken. Frankly, KFC isnt that great anymore anyway ... it just isnt finger licking good anymore ... and I would never buy chicken products from a burger joint. Truth is, I seldom go into a burger place unless Ive got a yen for french fries, onion rings, or a chocolate shake. Turkey dinner ... yum. I use my own fresh bread stuffing, which consists of fruit, nuts, premium seeded bread (like Alpine Valley Organic Bread), as well as real butter, and jumbo eggs! My Holiday Dinners were world famous before I went reclusive. When it comes to sweet potato/ yams ... I prefer baking them, just like a regular potato, and eating them with butter, just like a regular potato. True, I do love the traditional brown sugar and marshmallow dish, but I find myself skipping that lately. However, when I do make them that way, I also add dried fruits and nuts to the recipe. Yes, flax seed as well. A fine turkey dinner with all the trimmings is sinaliciously wonderful, however ... leftovers are to live for! I love making turkey sandwiches with stuffing and cranberry sauce layered atop the turkey. Turkey sandwiches are my favorite holiday edible! By the way ... lets talk cranberry sauce! Never ever cook the cranberries in water! Instead, use juice! You can use practically any juice ... I like Doles Pineapple Orange Banana Juice ... however, I also like making it with JUST BLACK CHERRY juice as well! And ... I also add ginger and dried fruits to my cranberries ... making my cranberry sauce a true favorite for hundreds of people across America and Canada ... as well as everywhere else Ive lived during the holidays. One thing for sure ... I know how to create a Holiday Dinner that people remember all of their lives ... now, that is something to be very proud of. Seriously ... isnt great to be known for putting a smile on peoples faces at the right time of the year?! HAPPY HOLIDAYS, PEOPLE! And stop eating chicken!
