Im not long back from a wonderful day of Christian fellowship up in Gairloch-Poolewe. 3 or 4 times a year the congregations of the C of S, and the two local Free Churches come together on the Sabbath for combined services, and on one of these occasions each year - this Sunday morning being one of them - they sit together at the Lords Table. What a blessing it was for my own soul today. A packed Communty Hall in Gairloch in the morning and a pretty full church in Poolewe tonight. Theres no doubt that Ps 133 with its promise of the blessing of eternal life on brothers and sisters gathered together in unity in the worship of God was fulfilled in measure in our experience today. At both services the Lord came close and through his Word and by his Spirit enlarged our vision of his glory full of grace and truth. How much he loves us! It was great also to hear of recent conversions in the congregations - how rarely I hear such wonderful news these days of the power of the gospel still at work in our communities, bringing individuals to a real encounter with the crucified and risen Saviour and through that into an experience of salvation. Our God and Saviour undoubtedly took delight in us today, and we were therefore enabled to take delight in HIm. Praise be to His great name!
