Im not writing this to garner sympathy or pity. Im writing this to brag about Gods little everyday blessings and the amazing husband he has blessed me with. Nick and I both lost our jobs about 3 weeks before we got married 5 months ago. Talk about not exactly starting a marriage on the best footing. We have learned to cut back and how to decide what is important and what can be put on the back burner for the time being. Just when we have been ready to admit defeat and throw our hands up God has been there to rescue us just in time and provide. We just started a Dave Ramsey financial class at church this past month because we knew there were things we needed to change and we wanted to be able to survive another hardship if this ever happened to us in the future. We finally sat down and took a hard look at exactly where every dollar we had was going. (not a fun conversation FYI) So as my contribution to making every dollar we have go as far as possible I gave up going out for coffee. I wasnt even buying the 5 dollar expensive stuff but I was still getting something that I could make at home for a lot less. This is where my amazing husband and Gods grace comes in. Nick and I were discussing tithing and other parts of our monthly out going expenses. He knows Im struggling and not always a happy camper about it. Our church has an amazing coffee bar and all its profits go to missions. Its good cheap coffee and a little piece of heaven on a Sunday morning that comes to early and everything is less than $4. So my amazing husband (yes I have said that a lot) told me today that he would be ok with me still getting a coffee on Sunday mornings at church because part of the money is still going to the church and missions. So 3$ of our tithe is going to church coffee on any given Sunday morning. Yes, I know it is not exactly the good little christian thing to do but for our budget and our marriage its little wins like this that make it all worth it. So no more Dunkin, Starbucks, or QT coffee but Sunday I am allowed my caramel latte served by volunteers trying to raise money for missions. Between God grace and my husbands big loving heart the world just got a little brighter. :)
