Im often amazed how the Calvinist doctrine of election created a religious culture based on an experience with Jesus (or decision for Christ, which is basically like Confirmation). Theres nothing inherently wrong with it, but the problem is that many people who grew up either in Christian homes or in a country whose culture is influenced by Christianity, may not recall any specific time when they chose Christ, they simply did not reject Him. But then are pressured to pinpoint some specific moment when they supposedly accepted Christ.
