Im saddened to know that a youth who was eager to be in my yoga-dance show cannot be in my show because her parents do not believe that yoga is of God. My name was also tagged in a post that had listed a whole bunch of things to stay away from as they are Satans Spiritual Structure and the first item on the list was Eastern Religions, followed by Yoga. The list also included Astrology & Tarrot Cards, Meditation, Vegetarianism, Levitation, etc. These things were listed as doorways to demonic possession. This shows me that there is so much more work that needs to be done here in Belize to properly educate people about yoga and meditation. Its funny, because my study of yoga and meditation has taught me that both are gateways to actually get in touch with the Divine. Ive had the strongest and most positive spiritual experiences by practicing yoga, especially candle-gazing meditation. While yoga does have religious and cultural influences from Jainism, Hinduism and Buddhism, anyone can practice yoga because yoga itself is not a religion. Even though yoga wasnt mean for this, yoga can tremendously help any person strengthen his/her beliefs regardless of what religion they belong to, because so many of the concepts and philosophy of yoga is so universal. You see, the underlying pattern of pretty much all religions, major and minor, is that only one way is taught as THE way to reach the divine. Anything else which is even just slightly different, is wrong and doomed. This has been a very proven and successful way to control and brainwash people by instilling fear to everything else which is different. The beauty of spirituality is that it teaches that there are multiple ways to reach the Divine, not just one. Spirituality accepts people who have various and even conflicting beliefs. Spirituality is not caught up into little petty details that religions fight over. Im not religious, but I am spiritual. Im still an amazing person with a beautiful heart. Ive found my purpose and Im pursuing it. After all, isnt that truly what life is all about? Doing exactly what we were each uniquely designed to do here on earth?
