Im very saddened to hear of the death of Robin Williams. I must admit, though, that people who appear to be totally together and extremely happy arent always that way. I sometimes thought he was bipolar. I saw him walking down the street with two beautiful ladies in 1982 in New York City and his exuberance was evident when he walked past the restaurant where I was dining. I also saw him a few times when I lived in San Francisco. Comedy is often based on personal experience that is painful. To all my friends: if youre suffering from severe depression, please get help. There are resources to help people in need, and ultimately I think that in itself is what makes America great. I cant help Robin Williams, but I hope if anyone among my friends suffers from depression or anxiety, that they get the help that is available. Do I sound like a liberal democrat? Yes, I am and I want our society to help people struggling with issues that affect all of us. And at that point, Im no longer a partisan voter on this issue. I just want everyone to get the help they need. Bleeding heart liberal: yes, that is what I am. Do I want to see everyone get the help they need? Absolutely.
