Imma gonna say this and its not going to be pretty....Im SOOOOO a fan of the sound of GE components. Im SOOOOO not a fan of how freakin temperamental they are. OMG. Just finished QCing 3 Mercury (Lite OD) circuits. There is a pair of always in play GE 1n34a diodes in there. Thats the CENTER toggle position. The idea of the center toggle position is just or barely dirty, but as a nice squishy GE foundation tone for the other two toggle positions. In other words, GE goodness all around. I test and measure each 1n34a prior to soldering them in...and I have 1 Mercury that sounds so freakin sweeeeeet...Its PERFECT. The other two? The TAILS...Thats right...Im chasing TAILS...There is a hash in all toggle positions from the 1n34a having a bit too much leakage. Bothersome. Truly. Im adjusting the design to minimize those differences, and Im a-ok with that, etc...IT IS JUST FREAKIN FRUSTRATING! OK. Rant done. Carry on.
