Important addenda: LAST NIGHT: Jean knocked my socks off (or would have had I been wearing any) with an amazing summer meal. To wit: creamy roasted heirloom tomato soup with mozzarella and Italian bread in the crock; caprese salad with fresh basil; open-faced broiled ham, apple and brie sandwiches with spicy brown mustard; fresh local corn on the cob. Dessert: cottage pudding with homemade peach-blueberry sauce on top. Yes, it’s quite often great to be me. TODAY: Possibly the most pleasant jaunt ever in the Spyder. Meteorologically, it was perfect: upper 70s F, just a few wispy cirrus clouds and jet contrails overhead, lightly traveled roads, great scenic farmland bursting with crops, no noxious fertilizer odors; no moving roadblocks courtesy of the Amish. The top went down and stayed down. Near the end of the trip, we made a pit stop at Rita’s for soft-serve. Perfectamente! I even got a knowing nod and wave from some dude in a Miata. That’s an End Times sign from Revelations, isn’t it?
