In 1862, on this day , 152 years ago, the District of Columbia abolished the horrific practice of slavery and freed 3000 slaves. Thank you to those slaves and to all slaves who were bought and sold, suffered, sacrificed much, yet survived because of their strong faith in God and hope for a better tomorrow.
