In 1942, the Pittsburgh City Photographer captured this view of buildings on West Carson Street, with North Pole Ice Cream and Lawrence Paint along the riverfront and the Jesse C. Stewart Co. grain buildings across the street. The 1913 grain elevator has an L-shaped top; in 1945 the company built another elevator next to it.
