In 1962, the big hotels in Vegas were still doing two shows a night. A Dinner Show, and the Midnight Show. And all the hotels had these Postcards placed on the tables in front of each chair. This is the Postcard that BARRIE used when we brought the show to The Sahara Hotel. I must tell you, however, MR. ASTAIRE was gracious enough to see to it that we three dancers got Billing. First, there was the old veteran, Bert May, then the dashingly handsome leading man, Buddy Bryan, and me......The Kid. Somewhere in these boxes I have some clippings of that. Can you even imagine what I felt, knowing that my name was going out all over the Country in connection with this show? Only six years prior, I had graduated from High School, ran away from home, was lucky enough to do a couple of films at MGM, and now THIS! Being discovered by FRED ASTAIRE and HERMES PAN, and partnering MR. ASTAIRES last dancing partner. It just doesnt get much better than that. Im really hoping that my book will come out sometime next year so that you can read all about that entire experience. But, for now.........heres one of the Postcards that The Sahara gave out. (Notice the postage!) I DO hope you are all enjoying these things that I keep finding in all these boxes. I know, Im having fun.
