In 1967, I bought a 45 titled Beg Borrow and Steal by the Rare Breed. Heres a little background on that song and the Rare Breed. It serves to show how much of the music we heard back in the sixties was the product of marketing and labeling. Who we saw on the record cover wasnt always who was on the record. Other examples include: the Hondells’ recordings were actually done by Terry Melcher and Bruce Johnston, Hang on Sloopy was recorded using the voices of Rick and the Raiders (Union City, IN) overdubbed onto instrumental tracks done by the Strangeloves. Check out all 3 of the records below, which are actually all the same 1965 recording under different group names. https://youtube/watch?v=3loCOWbaJFM (Beg Borrow and Steal - Rare Breed/Ohio Express 1965) https://youtube/watch?v=WQXpFJDRygU (Beg Borrow and Steal - Conquests/Rare Breed 1966) https://youtube/watch?v=fNYpGuUkATI (Beg Borrow and Steal - Ohio Express/Rare Breed 1967)
