In 2001, Nora Aunor came to HAU as a juror in the annual inter-college Video Festival. As a Noranian, I was delighted that shed come all the way from Manila to watch, analyze and grade six student films, each lasting one hour--quite an ordeal for a busy superstar like her. In gratitude, I quickly arranged a tribute in which I gave a glowing speech (which made her cringe in her seat) and presented her a trophy (which she shyly accepted). She whispered to me, Deserve ko ho ba ito? Nahihiya ho yata ako! (To think that she has received a thousand trophies more prestigious than the one I was presenting to her) During her acceptance speech, she begged me not to end the video competition (I had earlier announced that the videofest that year would be the last one). Nora turned to me and said, Sir, kahit po taun-taon, punta ako dito para mag judge, huwag nyo lang alisin ang paligsahang ito. Kawawa po ang mga estudyanteng may talent sa paggawa ng pelikula, kailangan nila ang ganitong paligsahan. Thats Nora Aunor, the National Artist!
