In 2011, I choose to make a decision, with support of my elders, to restart the Douglass Park Neighborhood Association. We reached out to the community and had plans to make the community better. It wasnt an easy process but it was rewarding. Today from 1-3pm I will share what I have learned, and offer my recommendations for the future, and help facilitate the election of the new board and pass the baton. Im now aiding another NA with the same process where I live now. If the board is not elected then the DPNA will go back into its prior dormant state, that it was in for 15 years. I dont want to see that happen. No one does. Believe me. But unless the people come and participate, its a possibility. We have 4 of the most high ranking individuals in town, all of which, have the duty, the commitment, and now, based on our friendship, the heart, to assist the Douglass Park citizenry and the minority community in CoMo. 15 minute presentations by: Mike Griggs with Parks and Rec Mike Brooks with REDI Peter Stiepleman with CPS Darin Pries with CMCA They will each lead a short 10-15 minute discussion on their efforts to support the minority community and those of modest means, their efforts to support and their vision of the future. I will see you there. No matter where you live in CoMo, you should be there to witness, aid and be aware. I doubt this type of meeting will ever happen again in this city.
