In 30 years, Rauner couldnt find any qualified blacks to hire and mentor to become partners in his venture capital firm. This, in spite of being located in the City of Chicago, home to some of THE top business schools in the country. Now, he has miraculously seen the light and wants just enough black votes to become Governor of Illinois. He has relied on black spokesmen who may benefit personally from his election, but what about the rest of us? Bruce Rauner talks about shaking things up, and has no plan. At least not one that he will reveal. I love President Obama dearly, but, remember, he never shared any specifics about his education plan all the while he was campaigning for President. His signature education policy, Race to the Top, created the environment for massive school closures, turnarounds on steroids, rapid expansion of charters, per-pupil school budgeting and tests till you drop. The last politician to be elected in Chicago without giving specifics was Rahm Emanuel. My experience prior to that was seeing Alderman Sharon Dixon elected to be 24th Ward Alderman with no experience and no plan. We know how that turned out. I cant tell you how to vote, but I urge you to do your homework.
