In England privilege isnt a hot topic outside of the cities. I got my education on the notion when I went to Indonesia and became an assumed authority figure based upon my skin colour, nationality, and sweet ass honker of a nose. Privilege is positive discrimination. It feels great. Based on my skin colour you can assume, Im intellectual and know lots of science, im atheist or christian, and definitely cant dance. While the discrimination I get for my stereotype confirming dance skills sucks, the benefits were outweighed in all the pleasantries I recieved. I cant imagine the other way round. In my current passion which is education, we privilege asian and white students over black students. But socially people are likely to trust east asian and white people more. Couch surfing was another example where the darker your skin, the less likely you are to get hosted. One of the more amusing ones i saw was the realisation that americans arent all loud and rude. You get it with the he was really nice actually. Oooh, the rare gem. Also thats a classic of indonesians when they meet dark skinned people (indian or african). But i suppose i do the same when I find an indonesian restaurant is out of rice.
