In a disturbing alternate time-line, resource-scarcity in the United States led to a resolution that called for a full-on annexation of Canada, through military force if necessary. Following a successful ground invasion and a disastrous nuclear exchange, Canada is occupied by an ever-present fleet of drones. Much of Canadas remaining armed forces survives under cover of the mountains, using newly mass-produced invisi-cloaks to skirt drone-mounted infrared detectors. Day by day, Canadians freedom fighters stage a losing resistance, desperately sabotaging pipelines in an attempt to strike back against the occupying forces. The world refuses to rally to their calls. Their only hope is to strike with enough force to make the occupation unprofitable and unpopular. To land a blow with enough momentum to pull the rest of the nations nascent resistance out of hiding and into the fight. But, there will be blood. So much. Too much. Even the elite sniper units designated as drone dispatchers know that theyre living on borrowed time. Either, they remove the drone with their first shot or it removes them with its brutally swift response. Their unofficial motto is: No one sees it coming. On the other side of the line, somewhere in Iowa, one of the drone pilots forgot to pack a spoon in her lunch. War is hell.
