In all fairness, after MH 370s incident, I overlooked the news on the sinking ferry in Korea that took place not too long after that. Just today, my family was highlighting the updates on the ferry. It took me a while to digest the facts and outcome of that incident. After watching video and audio feeds of the students at their last moments, I teared up feeling their sudden realization of that moment. That they were not only abandoned by the crew members (who repeatedly told them to stay put), but also realizing that no one was there to reach out and help them. Describing to their parents what was happening and that they love them. Imagine being on that other side of the phone. This welled into anger after reading about how the some of the crew members and the captain were one of the first to be saved. Not long after the Vice Principal of the school that organized the outing was saved from the ferry, he took his own life. Perhaps not knowing how to live with the guilt. The countrys spirit is now in its all time low with bouts of depression and guilt. Although I am slow to catch on this news, I feel like its never too late to express my deepest condolences to the family and country. Im hoping for an emotional recovery for them.
