In another group, someone asked whether someone knew about Revelation 2s reference to Satans seat being in Pergamous. The following response I learned from Prof. Douglas Waterhouse, now retired from the religion Department of Andrews University, Berrien Springs, Michigan. When Babylon was about to fall to the Meads and the Persians, the priests of Babylon fled to Asia minor to Pergamous. They settled near a mountain, that in English would be translated as Mount North. They staid there in obscurity until the Roman army adopted the Deity system of Pergamous. Mythracism. According to Revelation 13, the dragon gave his seat to the leopard-like beast. That was ancient Babylon. Then, with the fall of Babylon, the priest system moved to Pergamous. At some point in time, I think after the book of Revelation was written, the king-priest of Pergamous bequeathed his name and titles to the Emperor of Rome. When the pagan Emperor Constantine moved his capital to Constantinople, he bequeathed to the Bishop of Rome those very same names and titles. In the 1920s, archaeologists moved the entire temple of Pergamous to Berlin. Just in time for Hitlers rise to power. When the Russians entered Berlin near the end of World War II, they confiscated the lintel to the entrance to that temple. Around the time of Ronald Reagan, with the reunited Germany, Germany requested of Russia to return the lintel. I believe that this is anticipatory for the rise and power of the Russian bear relative to Daniels prophecies.
