In light of all the negative (or positive) reviews and bombs that will be flying amongst Evangelicals over the Noah movie (I guarantee that these interactions as they are now are not showing forth Christ to non-Christians who already are think that we have about as much discernment and humility as a dancing peacock), I think it is good to remember that they are all peoples opinions and not truth. I know believers and evangelicals that thought this movie was well done, thought provoking, artistically expressed, theologically deep, and worth every penny. I am one of them, and my question was the opposite of this reviewer. My thought coming out of the movie was, Why cant Christian filmmakers who actually believe this story is truth do this? I am sure that this will be an uproar in the Evangelical community for a little while (at least until the Exodus movie, staring Christian Bale as Moses, comes out later this year [I feel like we want to die on every mole hill that we stub our toe on]) but I hope that it causes some of us to reflect on the complexity of justice, the suffering of God over his just decisions (which were profoundly embodied in Russell Crowes Noah character--an embodiment of Gods emotions is also present with all the other Old Testament prophets), and the use of human agency in God sovereign plan (which happens much more often than divine fiat, or direct divine intervention). All I can say at this point is, Well done, Aronofsky.
