In light of the Lawful Rebellion meeting at the Assembly Rooms - TopicsExpress

In light of the Lawful Rebellion meeting at the Assembly Rooms today (1.30 pm), I have been thinking a great deal about the implications of the European Treaties of Nice and Lisbon on the fundamental Common Law legal system of England and Wales. As far as I can tell, the Treaty of Lisbon means that the European legal system of Civil Law (based on legislation or executive acts) could over-rule - or even remove - our Common Law and ‘precedential weight’ (based on decisions of courts and similar tribunal). This subject is emotive, it pulls on sentiments of identity [personal and national], a sense of justice and values. I do not find considering these things easy. I love my family, community, the countryside, the land, its heritage and history. But I am not a Nationalist, and I utterly detest UKIP, BNP, NF, et al. However, I will stand up for the inalienable rights and freedoms that are defended in Common Law and by Magna Carta. Perhaps I will see you at the Assembly Rooms later?
