In my lifetime I have probably seen hundreds and hundreds of bands - TopicsExpress

In my lifetime I have probably seen hundreds and hundreds of bands in everything from little local clubs with a capacity of about 100 people to small concert venues to large halls and arenas and stadiums. In all that time I have walked out on three bands. One was Everclear just this past summer and another was Van Halen when Sammy Hagar became their new lead singer. But the first time I walked out on a band was at the Fillmore East. Savoy Brown was on the underbill for the Grateful Dead. After listening to a great set by them the Dead came on and they were absolutely horrible. Lots of people left and eventually I had enough of their terrible playing and long, long periods of nothing between songs. As I was walking out I heard to of the ushers for the Fillmore talking to each other and one said to the other Thank god for Savoy Brown saving the night. I smiled and said to myself My sentiments exactly.
