In order to be saved from eternal death (the just penalty for - TopicsExpress

In order to be saved from eternal death (the just penalty for sin), a person needs to have a firm hold on Jesus Christ, the Savior, through faith (though this is really the result of Christ holding firmly onto us). Biblically, it has been said that one needs to put on Jesus Christ, in the way that one would put on a garment, or- as one person said, in the way one might put on a parachute. This is true..... But if one puts on the WRONG Jesus Christ- if he holds on, for the sake of his dear life, to the wrong concept of Christ, it will only make his death more sure. Certainly, the New Testament epistles place grave importance on banking ones faith on the right concept of Jesus. Holding onto the wrong view of Jesus, a man is like one falling from the sky who grabs onto an anvil for security. Reaching for the wrong Jesus, one becomes like a man who- once poisoned, frantically drinks down the supposed antidote- only to discover too late that what he actually drank was a large dose of an only worse poison. To find refuge in the wrong Jesus, one is like a man running from his enemy into a cave and breathing a sigh of relief- only to hear the growl of the beast of doom announcing his imminent death. It is not enough to hold onto someone you call Jesus. Is your Jesus the Jesus of the Bible? If you dont know for sure, then most certainly, you ought to run and see!!!! P.S.- Here are a few excellect messages on the Jesus Christ of Scripture as He is often overlooked. The series is entitled, A Supreme Look at the Sovereign Christ, by Steven Lawson: Pt. 1: mp3.sa-media/filearea/2910211410/2910211410.mp3 Pt. 2: mp3.sa-media/filearea/2910215280/2910215280.mp3 Pt. 3: mp3.sa-media/filearea/2910218510/2910218510.mp3 Pt. 4: mp3.sa-media/filearea/2910218530/2910218530.mp3 A crystallized version of the same message could be heard here, although the four messages, drawn out are much richer: mp3.sa-media/filearea/618102147450/618102147450.mp3
