In response to being referred to as a family of simple, country bumpkins, John Boy said, paraphrasing of course, that he spent some time, deep in thought, trying to figure out what made their family work and that he feels its most likely because they have enough love to go around, and even some to spare. Being kind, being compassionate, I think is partly inherent, but also must be nurtured and developed, somewhat a product of what we are taught and that to which we are exposed. We have good people around here, in our community. We need to make sure our children, our future, feel it, see it, and are nurtured, developed, and exposed to that very foundation of values, of love, and of faith in humanity. Not only our own children, but all the children of our community. Many may not have someone in their lives, who can do that for them. It is their responsibility to take it all in, to grow, and to develop. It is our responsibility to show them how. Touch the heart of a child, touch a life, touch the future.
