In the PREMIER DIVISION this week TWO GATES UNITED proved they have more than enough in their locker to survive their maiden season in the Division as they beat seasoned Premier outfit ROYAL OAK KINGSBURY 6-2 thanks mainly to K. McCALL hitting four goals past his former club along with J. McCALL and A. STEVENS also getting on the scoresheet . The match started fairly evenly with Two Gates defending well and looking dangerous on the break with both McCalls finding space between the Oak defenders . It wasnt long before McCall broke the offside trap and gave Two Gates the lead . This soon became 2-0 as more poor defending handed Two Gates another . The Oak did have several chances of there own with Collier and Smith going close just before half time . The second half started and the Oak began to press Two Gates back in search of a goal that would of got them back in the game . The pressure started to tell and the Oak goal came curtsey of an og . As the Oak searched for an equaliser they were hit on the counter with McCall again scoring when sent clean through . Two Gates added a couple more before the Oak grabbed a consolation penalty for it to finish 6-2 ….. In DIVISION 1 , PROGRESSIVE FC continued their fine start to the season making it three straight wins in the league as they defeated WILNECOTE WMC 3-1 . The game was a much tighter affair than the scoreline suggests but a brace from WIELOGOSKI and one from FARLEY sealed the win …. SNARESTONE GLOBE made it two wins from two when putting POLESWORTH ROYAK OAK to the sword winning 8-0 ….. DIVISION 2 and early pace setters ONE STOP SUPPLEMENTS continued their unbeaten start to their league challenge when beating OFFICE 4-3 . One Stop though may of thought their unbeaten start was coming to an end as Office took a 2-0 lead as DHESI scored twice . The Office hope was short lived though as One Stop powered into a 4-2 lead and although ELLIS scored for Office making it 4-3 it just wasnt enough in the end as One Stop held on to take all the points . One Stop started on the front foot , and came close with an effort on the turn by Ellis after ten minutes and a slide footed effort over the top by S. Rowley when it seemed easier to score , but the breakthrough came at the opposite end as a poor waist high backpass by Quigley was juggled by keeper Allen as if in a futsal competition before his sliced clearance was tapped into an empty net by the onrushing Office midfielder to score the first goal at Supplements new home surroundings .Within minutes it was 2-0 . Again hesitancy at the back was pounced upon and as the Office striker raced through , he was clipped by the One Stop keeper for a certain penalty , and although Allen came close to redeeming himself by guessing correctly on the direction of the spot kick , he couldnt quite get finger tips to it and Office were in dreamland with a 2-0 lead before the twenty minute mark . S. Rowley again came close , slashing wildly over from less than ten yards , before almost constant pressure paid off . A corner into the dangerzone saw Siddaway manhandled and Supplements Liam ROWLEY reduced the deficit with a comfortably despatched penalty to reignite the contest . Moments later a spat between two Office players ended with one verbally abusing the other , and leaving the field of his own accord , before making a call to his mummy to collect him . An embarrassing moment for the Office management . One Stop threw wave after wave of attacks at the stubborn Office defence before the equaliser finally came , a break from wide right saw a great ball in by Gilbert slammed goalwards by Liam ROWLEY for his second of the game via a slight deflection to level it up . Office now looked out on their feet and the constant onslaught resulted in yet another penalty awarded as a cross in was flicked on by Francis before being handled on the line , meaning the Office player manager received a red card and Liam ROWLEY completed a smart hat trick by firing low and hard past the keeper .The clincher came with five minutes left , a ball forward skimmed the Office defenders head as he tried to clear the punt , and left Ellis clean through on goal , before drawing the keeper and sliding the ball to Liam ROWLEY to tap in from eight yards for his and his teams fourth goal of a tense affair . There was still time for Allen in the One Stop goal to try his best to raise Offices hope again as his blasted clearance hit the Striker and again left the visitors with an easy tap into an unguarded empty net , but there wasnt enough time for any further goals , and the result leaves One Stop with four wins from four to continue their promising start ….. In DIVISION 3 , WILNECOTE QUEENS HEAD continued their good start to the season with a hard-fought victory over SWIFTS . Queens started brightly and attempted to keep possession , however Swifts work rate paid dividends and forced Queens into making errors . This led to Queens conceding a corner early on and an unmarked Swifts player having a free-header at the back post to make it 1-0 to the Swifts. Queens did not let this set-back affect them , and kept playing their football creating several chances before an unlikely spill from the Swifts keeper allowed the ever-reliable EVANS to stab home from close range drawing the teams level . Queens continued to seek further goals but nothing came to fruition in the first half . The second half continued in the same manner with Swifts pressing Queens at every opportunity , this style forced Queens into over-playing at the back and ultimately making an error , this gave the Swifts striker a chance to shoot from just outside the edge of the box which he did so gleefully and with aplomb . The goal put Swifts 2-1 up and Queens nerves started to be tested . However , Queens unbeaten run was not going to be lost on this day , after instruction from the management to continue playing in the same way , this proved dividends as the Swifts started to tire . Good inter-play from the midfield allowed HORTON to cut in from the left wing and curl a shot to the far right corner bringing the scores level at 2-2 . Swifts had muted chances from there on in , and it was Queens who looked like scoring on every attack . Their next goal came from a midfield pass deflected by a Swifts defender into the path of EVANS who stabbed home again from close range to make it 3-2 Queens . Swifts linesman flagged for offside but the ref over ruled as it was clear that the ball had struck the defender changing the course of the ball and allowing Evans to get his brace . Queens are looking to do well this season and will need the reliability of strength in-depth if they are to succeed , something that was evident on Sunday as after changes were made all three subs combined to score the fourth and final goal . A disputed throw-in was taken quickly by Onions to Davis , who then played in Savory , SAVORY went past two defenders before firing home with a well taken strike to make the final score 4-2 to Wilnecote Queens Head ….. DIVISION 4 saw ANKERSIDE RANGERS winning start to the season come to an end when they met MERCIAN in a very tight game indeed . The game started sloppy from Ankersides point of view and they fell behind early on when they failed to deal with a cross into the box . They then slowly started to get back into it and had a couple of chances and if not for some bad offside calls they would have been one on one a couple of times but as the half went on they eventually drew level through Rich TONKS whose shot from a tight angle went in off the post . Ankerside came out in the second half and although starting slowly again they never looked in danger and created a few more chances before another sloppy spell led to them going behind again after they failed to close down a long shot and then failed to clear the rebound . From then on Ankerside didnt perform to their fine early season form and missed several clear cut chances and then unluckily had a goal wrongly chalked off after a terrible decision from the ref they didnt agree with . Ultimately though Ankerside have no one to blame but themselves , as if they had taken their chances or performed to their usual standard they would have had the win instead a 2-1 loss ….. TWO GATES UNITED laid down a marker to the rest of the division after thumping WILNECOTE PRINCE 13-2 . Two Gates started the game as they meant to go on putting Prince under a lot of pressure . They got caught out by several through balls but gained control at the end of the first half . But the second half was all Two Gates once again as they went on to rattle in double figures as COLES hit FIVE , WORRELL helped himself to four goals and CARDUS bagged a hatrick with SHELLIS getting the other ….. GLASCOTE SWIFTS suffered a narrow 2-1 defeat at the hands of STONYDELPH with Loz WILLIAMS scoring Glascotes goal … The E.S GEORGE MEMORIAL CUP this week saw a few cup upsets , firstly MAD DOG TATTOO FC of Division 2 went into their game this weekend facing Premier Division AUSTREY RANGERS , and on paper Austrey had the beating of the Mad Dog Tattoo side all day , but pre-match the Mad Dogs had other ideas as they raised their game to well above their level to shock Austrey and come away triumphant , booking their passage into the next round of the cup at the expense of their higher league opponents !! Rolling on from last weeks quality performance where Mad Dog turned over Wilnecote WMC from the league above , they went one better this week beating the possible Premier Division Champions Austrey Rangers in a game Austrey thought was won before it started . Straight from the off the Mad Dogs were hungry to cause an upset after a pre-match grilling and installing of some self belief into the lads from the management they were well up for the challenge and from the off they proved this . The first fifteen minutes were pretty equal as both teams cancelled each other out and chances came and went at both ends until Mad Dog Tattoo opened up the scoring when their prolific striker Dave GADSBY opened up his account for the season on his first official outing , latching onto a wicked through ball played out from the flank by Callum Frewin who couldnt of put it on a plate any better for his strike partner to stick out his toe and guide it in to beat Adam Hilton in the Austrey net to set the tone for the match and give his side the belief they needed . From from here on in there only looked one winner as the Mad Dogs tore into Austrey as they argued between themselves knowing now they were in for a game and not a stroll in the park . Although Austrey had their chances there were some class last ditch tackles from Bolter and Hales snuffing out attempts from Smith and Shutt who were finding it difficult to find a way past . Mad Dog still were the better team after taking the lead and they pressed Austrey all the way watching them lose their heads and frustrating them with the offside trap that was deployed by the back line to perfection and they grew in confidence passing the ball around with a commanding mid field performance from Tamplin and Heaton they created chances to increase their lead as the pace down the flanks from Frewin and Dixon was terrorising the Austrey defence but Austrey were always dangerous on the break with Shutt and Smith up top but a second Mad Dog goal SHOULD of took the wind out the Austrey sails as chances came and went for Mad Dogs , but against the run of play Austrey equalised with a good team goal scored by SHUTT who fired in low and hard across the keeper into the bottom corner to draw Austrey back level at 1-1 . Getting straight back in the game , Mad Dog Tattoo kicked off and within seconds were back in front without Austrey even touching the ball as GADSBY and Little Fordy cheekily combined for Mad Dog to go 2-1 up when Ryan Ford and Gadsby looked as if they were whispering sweet nothings to each other arranging a secret date maybe , they were in fact collaborating a plan that worked to perfection as they always say in football that your at your most vulnerable just after scoring and this was certainly the case for Austrey as the ref blew his whistle to re start Gadsby ran from the centre circle into the Austrey box and Ford clipped a pearler of a lofted ball straight into his team mates path who as if by magic bought the ball down with one touch then finished superbly with his second touch from 12 yards out leaving the whole of the Austrey team wondering how he had got away with such a cheeky goal . This ruffled a few Austrey feathers and some rather meaty challenges were now flying in as Austrey tried to bully Mad Dogs in their attempts to stop them playing , but cool calm and collective Mad Dogs didnt rise to the fire and let the ref do his job . John Gibson was on the end of a horrendous two footed lunge from Austrey which another day and another ref could well of been a red card but no card dished out but it ended Gibsons game as the whistle went for the break and he couldnt continue . Rather than shut up shop and go all defensive Mad Dog came out for the second half intent on carrying on where they left off as Austrey changed shape , but not scared and manning up Mad Dog kept there shape and continued to play their own game and were just rewarded when little Ryan Ford pestered the Austrey backline into a mistake to gift his team mate Stu DIXON a one on one chance that he was never going to miss that he rattled into the bottom corner rattling the Austrey belief in the process . At 3-1 Mad Dog went in search of a killer goal and after peppering the Austrey goal , against the run of the play Austrey scored a freak goal as Mad Dogs keeper took a free kick off the edge of his box that landed at the feet of Ryan STROUD in his own half who duly accepted the gift by rifling it back , first time straight into the net over the stranded keepers head for a brilliant individual goal . Mad Dogs keeper though soon made up for his hash pushing a one on one chance from Smith onto the post only to see the re bound smashed in but to be chalked off for offside after his great save . At 3-2 anybody could of won this game as both teams looked for a goal and if Austery had scored maybe Mad Dog heads would of dropped but they kept plugging away and got their just rewards scoring a fourth making it 4-2 when Super Sub Ricky PHIPPS muscled his way into the Austrey box after the quick thinking distribution of the Mad Dog keeper Hales set him on his way and after dazzling their defence with his silky skills he even had the cheek to check back on himself and do it all again to fire in a low hard drive into the bottom corner tor a goal of sheer quality that put the icing on the cake of a Mad Dog Tattoo performance that did everyone proud . With five minutes to go an Austrey player decided that he had enough and spat his dummy out leaving it with Heaton and Tamplin in the middle of the park who had ran him ragged all game and saw him ripping off his shirt throwing it to the ground trudging off the pitch leaving his side with ten men to finish the game as worthy losers and Mad Dogs saw out a more than worthy victory to progress to the next round of the cup . Austrey though to their credit were humble in defeat and congratulated every Mad Dog player off the pitch praising their performance and wished them well in the next round . These two sides will meet again in two weeks in another cup competition where by for sure Austrey will be looking to put the record straight , but its a fixture Mad Dog Tattoo cannot wait to play again to show they can mix it with the best…... One Division separated COTTAGE FARM RANGERS and FC BONDS but you may have been mistaken for thinking it was three although in Cottage Farm Rangers defence they struggled to field a team due to holidays , injuries and no shows and had to play the game out with only ten men against their higher league opposition so it was always going to be a struggle . Cottage gave a good account of themselves for the first twenty minutes more than matching Bonds with the extra man but they began to tire and Bonds capitalized making it 1-0 with a goal scored by Martin JOHNSON from eight yards out and he soon made it 2-0 as the Cottage keeper and defender had a mix up in communication leaving him to walk the ball into the empty net . Then a short corner from Baker to Adam DARBY was smashed home to make it 3-0 after thirty minutes . Another Bonds corner was pulled back from Bancroft to BAKER who made no mistake from six yards as he headed home to make it 4-0 . Bonds started the second half just as quick and a good run down the left from Chris Best saw him send a quality ball across the box that was rolled in by youth academy signing seventeen year old Wezz TRUNKS to make it 5-0 . JOHNSON then made it 6-0 with his hat-trick with a cool finish into the bottom corner . Super sub Rob DARBY came on as was put through by a super ball from Baker who coolly raced through from his own half with his pace leaving the defenders behind and then coolly lifting the ball over the advancing keeper to make it 7-0 . A calamity mix up from Bonds keeper Troy left the Cottage Farm striker Tom DOBSON an empty net to roll home to make it 7-1 . Bonds could have had a a few more but the Cottage keeper make a few good saves keeping the score to a minimum .... A depleted Premier Division AFC Bolehall squad showed some good mental strength to beat DRAYTON BASSETT of Division 2 as they were missing four first team regulars but they just about managed to overcome the horrendous pitch and the lower league outfit who put up a good fight taking them to extra time . Bolehall found it very hard to pass the ball about like they prefer to on the very long grass of Rectory Close , as Drayton Bassett scrapped well in the first half . Bolehall looked very dangerous from long throw-ins throughout the first half as Tim Prescott found himself unmarked a couple of times . The opening goal came from a long throw-in from Ashley Prescott to Scott LARVIN who rose above the goalkeeper and flicked the ball on as the defender on the line couldnt adjust himself to clear it . In the second half Drayton Bassett levelled the game twice , first early on in the second half as their striker John BAKER found himself through on goal , stand in goalkeeper Aaron Thompson got a good hand on it but not quite enough for it to go over the bar as it dropped into the back of the net . Bassett werent level for long as Ashley PRESCOTT scored a great goal from thirty yards out , he brought the ball down on his chest and struck a looping shot which had the Bassett keeper beaten from the moment it left his foot . Bolehall looked set for the win as the clock went down but from a set piece Bassett found themselves back on level terms as Gary CORDELL headed in . For extra time Bolehall brought Aaron Thompson out of goal and upfront and he put in a great half hour performance as he held up the ball brilliantly . Bolehall scored the winner in the first half of extra time through Thompson as he set up James MORTIMER with a lovely through ball for Mortimer to run through and chip the goalkeeper to make it 3-2 and book Bolehalls place in the next round by the skin of their teeth …. HURLEY UNITED of Division 1 defeated Division 2s FAZELEY TOWN 4-2 thanks to a Dave BRUSH hatrick and goal from SEARS . It was Fazeley Towns first defeat of the season in a contest they really deserved more from , as from the kick off Fazeley dominated the match with Ben JENKINS sweeping home a volley from a right angle to give them the early lead . The following twenty minutes were almost all played towards Hurley Uniteds goal with Ellison , Norsworthy and Hannah all missing good chances . The game then turned on its head as the makeshift Fazeley midfield allowed Hurley back into the game by leaving spaces that could be exploited which happened three times inside ten minutes and gave Hurley United a 3-1 lead from nowhere . Fazeleys JONES then added another before half time to make it 3-2 and game on . Hurley United made it 4-2 early on the second half and the rest of the match was a story of missed chances with both sides missing so many chances the score could have been anything , but in the end Hurley progressed into the next round ….. Division 4 outfit HURLEY KINGS put their name in the hat for the next round by defeating COTON ARMS from the league above by a single goal . Hurley scored in the first half and Coton Arms couldnt find a way back , to drop out of the cup . Lots of missed opportunities , but a lot of positives with Hurleys keeper not even tested . Jake SHEPPARD scoring for the second week running , with a peach of a toe poke in the bottom corner helping Hurley through to the next round with a win and a clean sheet ….. Division 3s EDINGALE SWIFTS pulled off their best result in about three years with a pulsating 5-4 extra time win away at Premier Division side STUDIO . Both sides settled into the game but the hosts took the lead when an error by Luke Jay left the Studios Ade PATE one on one and he finished coolly . The youngster simply shrugged this error off and two minutes later his raking long field pass sent Andrew STEWART-JONES free and he took it past the Studio centre back with ease and slid it past the on rushing keeper . Edingale were on the front foot now and the left back from Studio was being given a torrid time . A Kieran Cherrie pull back to Stewart-Jones was nearly converted but it was a short lived let off for the hosts as Edingale took the lead in world class fashion . A Cherrie and Stewart-Joness short corner looked harmless enough but CHERRIE skinned the full back and from thirty yards smashed an unstoppable drive into the top corner . The second half started and as expected Studio came out fired up . An equaliser came when a long throw was headed home through a crowd of people by THOMPSON . Edingale werent fazed though and Cherrie and Justin Tomson combined and Cherries strike looked a yard over the line but wasnt given . However a couple of minutes later Edingale did regain the lead when a corner was bundled into his own net by the Studio defender on the line . Again back came Studio and a cross from the left wing was tapped home from six yards . The game was now end to end and CHERRIE out paced and out determined the Studio centre back to get in and chip the keeper to make it 4-3 to Swifts with ten minutes to play . It looked like job done but a cross from the left with thirty seconds left was headed home by the Studio striker EASTGATE , to take it to extra time . In extra time a free kick for Swifts wasnt cleared and George Smith and the keeper both went in , the ball broke free and Smith coolly finished . The keeper was hurt and couldnt continue , but it wasnt 10v11 for long though as injury ended Cherries involvement in the first half of extra time . Scott Greenfield had a volley wide as Edingale looked to finish it and a late flurry of corners and the Swifts held on to claim a major upset winning 5-4 …. Premier Division giants APPLEBY MAGNA turned up at Division 4 minnows NEWTON ALLIANCE giving the impression they were going to walk the game with a very comfortable win against their opponents . The first fifteen minutes of this game though belonged to Newton Alliance as they took their game to Appleby and for sure had them worried , with a couple of chances spoiled by suspect linesman decisions , Newton were so unlucky not to be 2 goals to the good . It took Appleby until half an hour in to go 1-0 up with a hopeful shot from TURNER from outside the area which Newtons keeper got both hands on but just couldnt quite keep it out . Appleby then attacked again to make it 2-0 when STEVENSON scored as Newton Alliance lost a bit of shape trying to win the ball back and press higher up the pitch . Early in the second half Appleby were awarded a penalty , which was smashed wide , but the encouraging words from the Newton Alliance staff at half time inspired them to dominate the next twenty minutes or so making Alliance look like the favourites not their Premier Division opponents . Yet again though another couple of suspicious offside decisions stopped Newton from opening up their tally as they became frustrated with the suspect calls . Never the less Alliance soldiered on with a goal from Craig HATHAWAY linking up well with the Alliance attacking force and this gave Alliance hope and they had Appleby worried that an equaliser was on its way . Fantastic performances from every Alliance player and yet another man of the match performance from Luke HARRIS , it was so unfortunate that as Alliance pushed forward trying for an equaliser , they were caught on the break as Applebys FISHER slotted the ball home once more to make it 3-1 and game over but a super showing from the lower league side earnt the respect of Appleby who knew they had been in a game at the final whistle as they were made to work very hard to progress ….. An all Division 3 encounter saw ST JOHNS meet FC WHITE LION . St Johns were having a lot of possession but not doing anything with the ball and playing all there football in front of the White Lion midfield . Lion always looked strong on the counter attack mainly down there right flank . The first goal of the game came from a corner after three close calls as first Benn Minshull spurned a chance and Aaron Crook just missing the ball for it to hit Neil DIAMOND on the head and go in without him knowing anything about it . After a bit of arguing between themselves White Lion got through to half time leading 1-0 . After organising and realising it was ok to relax and show maturity , Lion settled and not having all the ball they just sat back and allowed their fire power to come up trumps . After some neat football from Lion , Neil Diamond popped up to then be clipped from behind for a penalty that Reece COOPER slotted away superbly . Then again Lion battling away on the edge of the box saw Neil Diamonds quick feet clipped again and another clear cut penalty and again Reece COOPER stepped up and put another fantastic penalty away . White Lion stood firm and some route one football from a goal kick went long and Minshull after a great first touch then sliced his shot which looped over the keeper to hit the post and Liam BAILEY , after working hard coming off the bench , worked even harder and smashed in the loose ball for 4-0 to cap a fine win for White Lion …. Division 1 side TAMWORTH ARMS GALACTICOS were never in any danger of seeing their name not in the hat for the next round as they ran Division 4 struggler’s POLESWORTH SPORTS & SOCIAL ragged winning 13-1 without breaking a sweat . Polesworths consolation goal coming from Ashley CUMMINS ….. The same could be said for Division 1s VAULTS as they defeated Division 2s MEASHAM 7-1 . Vaults started this cup game in doggish style and were made to pay as Measham took a 1-0 lead . Vaults had a number of chances and got there reward when Jamie NEWBOLD picked up the ball and smashed it home to grab an equaliser . Both teams had a couple of chances but went into half time level . Only one team came out in the second half and that was the Vaults and they ran riot as NEWBOLD grabbed his second of the game before John BARRON made it 3-1 . Jamie NEWBOLD then completed his hat trick before a Pete JAMES header made it 5-1 to the Vaults . Aid FRITH then smashed the ball home from outside the area to make it 6-1 after some dodgy Measham goal keeping . But Jamie NEWBOLD made it 7-1 after a Matt Biggs shot hit the crossbar and Newbold slotted it home from a yard out and the Vaults progress into the next round …. Premier Division WILNECOTE RED LION met Division 3s MIDLAND UNITY and roared to a 7-0 win in a pretty much one sided game . Gregg ALLEN and Adam DELANEY both scoring twice with Dayel CAVENEY , Reece LYNCH and Tom SHAKESPEARE with the other goals ….. In the ELLISION ROSE BOWL CUP , Premier Division WOOD END SPORTS made a comfortable passage into the next round after beating Division 4S DYNAMO SPORTS BAR 8-0 ….. Division 3s GATE INN met Division 1s DUG OUT and The Gate who have been second best in their first couple of League games after being promoted to Division 3 , expected another hard game against higher Division . The Gate got the break they needed early on when a thirty yard free kick into the box from Chris GREEN was fluffed by the Dug Out keeper gifting them a 1-0 lead . The Dug Out levelled the match shortly afterwards with a controversial goal after two Dug Out forwards flatend the advancing Gate keeper and then Adam CHAPMAN slotted home the loose ball . After a scrappy start to the second half the Gate went on to extend their lead through Pepe DIMARCO and Kris MURRAY and although the Dug Out managed to pull a goal back through T. SHEPPARD it was the Gate Inn who went through to the next round with a 4-2 win ....
