In the PREMIER DIVISION this week third from bottom AFC BOLEHALL met STUDIO who sit right below them in the league and with both sides seemingly struggling to adapt to life in the Premier Division after making the jump into the big boys league it was a chance for two sides on the same level to do battle . The final scoreline suggesting there is not a lot to separate the two sides as they finished all square at 1-1 ….. DIVISION 1 has a new leader at the top of the pack as TAMWORTH ARMS GALACTICOS triumphed over bottom of the league DUG OUT FC . The match started with drama as Sports World didnt open till 10.30am leaving the Galacticos with only 5 underarmour garments for their moisturised skin , so this left the Galacticos to start the game cold and Dug Out tried to take advantage with a few attacks testing the Galacticos goalkeeper (Neur Biff) forcing him into some good saves . Dug Out were more than matching their opponents but as the game wore on Dug Out knew it was only a matter of time before their opponents would warm up and when they did it was the typical samba football that has seen them destroy teams this season with Jack Carlos Baker bombing forward from left back it seemed inevitable that Super Fred FOXALL would step up and score and as soon as he did it lifted the game with Galacticos taking advantage of the game opening up by going on to score twice more . After the drama of Sports World in the morning it was incredible to think that there would be more , but there was as the superstars ( Galacticos ) had a free kick that seen 7/8 players dummy run over the ball for Carlos Baker to hit a rocket off the bar and in but with the lack of goal line technology at Mile Oaks ground the goal was not given and with Galacticos in celebrations , Dug Out went up the other end and scored leaving the game at 3-1 after MURRAY outpaced the centre half to slot home . With that the Steven Foxall had to act quick , he needed a goal , he needed somebody to spark his lads into life and he looked to his bench and seen Darren Fulford warming up and he only had one choice and he brought on the veteran who has been hammering the sunbeds all week just so he gets an opportunity and he did ! Coming on and tearing the Dug Out back four apart with his movement and sublime touches , with this Foxalls men went on to score a fourth late in the game bringing an enjoyable game to an end at 4-1 . Dug Out although losing put in a much better performance than recent outings and could be proud of their battling performance but the Galacticos steam train just keeps rolling on …. WILNECOTE WMC started the day top of the league but a defeat to FC BONDS saw them slip to second spot . Bonds dominated most of the game and were very determined and wanted the three points more and worked 110 % to earn them . A corner from Adam Darby on the half hour mark was flicked on by Daniel Hermann at the near post and Ant BAKER headed home to make it 1-0 . Wilnecote didnt really cause the Bonds keeper any trouble until the second half , and a corner from Wilnecote that saw the Bonds keeper Troy come out and collide with a couple of players saw him injured and he then had to go off with a head injury and Ant Baker had to go in goal for the last twenty minutes but was rarely troubled . It was another corner from Adam Darby with fifteen minutes to go that fell to Wez TRUNKS who finished from close range to make it 2-0 . Bonds deserved to get the three points with all their hard work throughout the whole of the game and Wilnecote will look to put this result to bed in next weeks fixture against Hurley United ….. HURLEY UNITED faced FC VAULTS and with Vaults playing with the advantage of the wind from the start they started the better side but two counter attacks from Hurley United saw them race into a 2-0 with with a brace for débutante Carl TEDDS , the second of which was a sublime finish . In the Hurley goal , WOOD kept his side in front with some fine saves before Sears aka the goal machine became the goal provider for TEDDS to duly despatch making it a début hatrick within thirty minutes . Vaults then reduced the deficit just before half time when Ste WILLIAMSON was played through and he netted . A scrappy second half saw Hurley further extend their lead with LEECH claiming the decisive goal although the dubious goal panel could have recorded it as an own goal , hat trick hero C. Tedds this time becoming the provider . Both teams then missed good chances with the outstanding Wood helping to make the 4-1 victory a lot more comfortable than it may have been . A fair result in the end although the scoreline maybe a bit flattering which sees Hurley now move to third place .... DIVISION 2 and Champions elect ONE STOP SUPPLEMENTS dropped their first points of the season in the first game of the new year against a vastly improved FAZELEY TOWN side at Anker valley . In blustery conditions on a tight , poorly kept pitch , One Stop almost made the perfect start within ninety seconds , a through ball from right back Gilbert saw Ellis dart inbetween two defenders and lift his strike high and wide .An even first twenty minutes suddenly burst into life when a Fazeley attack broke down deep in the Supplements half , Gilbert again showing great work to win the ball and pass inside to Haddock , who instantly switched a lofted ball out wide for Forster to chase onto , and his fantastic ball across the box was met at full stretch at the far post by ELLIS to slide a strike into the net , a box to box move in less than ten seconds , truly fantastic counter attacking football . Supplements then produced their most composed football of the game , an arrow of a free kick from twenty five yards by Hicks on the half hour mark was a fraction wide , and five minutes later a ball through the static Town defence saw Forster nudge the ball past the keeper but he was unable to stretch to flick the ball into the gaping net , leaving the game delicately poised at half time . Fazeley then came out reinvigorated with the wind behind them , and despite not creating clear cut chances they were looking more and more competitive , Supplements standing off far too many times and allowing Town to build more momentum and the equaliser came deservedly twenty minutes in . A free kick from wide right was flicked in fortunately off the ankle of Sam JONES for 1-1 . Supplements made two quick fire substitutions and a lightning break again saw Forster win the ball and spray a pass wide for Ellis , who beat the full back and lifted a pass into the area for the late arriving Forster to nod the ball narrowly wide of the upright . Another break with less than minutes left on the clock saw Ellis again create havoc wide left and his cutback was met by Shirley who spun but saw his low strike held by the home keeper . Honours even in a scrappy game devoid of much quality , Fazeley showing enough to suggest they could yet grab a promotion spot if they can continue with this improved showing …. MAD DOG TATTOO travelled to a cold blustery wind swept Belgrave High School to take on an ever improving COTTAGE FARM RANGERS for a game you would have been inclined to think there would be no real football played with the elements taking charge but both sides proved otherwise in a very entertaining game . The first game back after the Christmas break always comes as a shock to the system for most sides and it was no different for Cottage Farm who started pretty sluggish where as Mad Dog Tattoo started with the bit between their teeth and they flew out the blocks and played some quite delightful one touch and two touch crisp passing football on the floor that Cottage Farm struggled cope with in the early stages of the game . The first ten minutes of this game there looked to be only one winner and after missing a few guilt edged chances Mad Dog Tattoo took a deserved lead fifteen minutes in when the first of the mornings great individual goals for Mad Dog was scored by Darrel HALES . Again some great team build up play saw brother Dan Hales play a ball into Darrel who on the edge of the box took the ball on his chest and turned on a six pence with his marker almost in his pants , to rifle an unstoppable rocket first time into the top right hand corner to leave everyone gobsmacked . Unfortunately for Mad Dog the lead was short lived as against the run of the play Cottage Farm equalised after Mad Dogs full back got caught in possession in the opposing half on a marauding attack leaving acres of space behind him and a quick ball over the top saw Louis SANDS exploit the gap left , as he ran onto and controlled the ball and made his way into the box and fired a low hard effort across the Mad Dog keeper that just found the bottom corner to level the game at 1-1 . Cottage Farm now woke up and began to match Mad Dog Tattoo all over the park and the game became very open with Mad Dog attacking at will but when caught in possession Cottage Farm were quick to break and always a threat and both sides were now having chances to take the lead but it was Cottage Farm who did take the lead when a ball sent into the box by Louis Sands bounced around like a hot potato and having two chances to clear the ball the Mad Dog defence paid the price for not doing so and Paul ZARANCHA punished their failure to clear the danger by poking home from the edge of the six yard box making it 2-1 . Mad Dog Tattoo had two or three opportunities to draw back level before the break but the Cottage Farm keeper was in fine form and denied them . A halftime team talk for Mad Dog Tattoo seemed to inspire them to start the second half on top and not let Cottage Farm settle on the ball as they chased everything down and harried and hassled the Cottage side into mistake after mistake whilst in possession and an equaliser was always on the cards and when it came twenty minutes into the second half , what a goal it was , as once again a great individual goal was scored this time by Dan HALES who picked up the ball inside his own half and must of rode ten challenges on his way into the box as he twisted and turned and at one point was even on the floor but still managed to get to his feet to battle his way into the box firing a low hard drive into the bottom corner drawing his side level . Once again though after scoring the Mad Dog Tattoo work rate seemed to drop and Cottage Farm grew into the half but Mad Dog Tattoo took the lead when again another great goal was scored , this time by Callum FREWIN . A Cottage Farm attack was broken down and some neat play saw a ball whipped in behind the Cottage Farm defence out wide that Frewin raced onto and the hesitancy of the Cottage Farm keeper who couldnt decide whether to come or not saw him caught in no mans land and seeing this Callum Frewin from twenty five yards out used the swirling wind to his advantage to curl an effort into the top corner that the back peddling keeper could only help into his net along with himself . However , after going behind , Cottage Farm started to see more of the ball and created a few chances before Josh NORTON turned and fired over the Mad Dog keeper who was also caught off his line to square things at 3-3 . Both sides had chances to win it at the death but through some great goal keeping and poor finishing the game ended in a fair 3-3 draw …... WARTON CLUB sit third in DIVISION 3 and this week travelled to play bottom of the league COTON ARMS in a match many thought would be a very one sided affair , but it proved to be far from it . The game started as many would have expected with Warton on the front foot but only creating half chances flashing shots high and wide , Coton were defending well and looking dangerous on the counter and it was them who took the lead through a Josh WORRALL goal , on his début he calmly slotted home past the advancing keeper . The lead though was not in tact for long as a great solo run from his own half and a calm finish saw Warton level the match and that is how the two sides went off at the break . The second half was similar to the first with Warton on the front foot and creating but some solid defending and good goalkeeping kept them at bay . The pressure began to build on Coton Arms , having a succession of corners to defend and in the end it was a set piece that put Warton ahead , a towering header at the back stick into the roof of the net . Most would have thought this would soon turn into 3 or 4 but it sparked a bright spell and some urgency from Coton Arms and they found themselves level with a super finish from half time sub Dan WHITTINGHAM , turning and shooting from twenty five yards , right into the top corner . The game was level heading into the last ten minutes and both teams were creating chances , Worrall had a golden chance but snatched at it sending it wide . It was in the last minute when the killer blow came , a long ball down field from the Warton keeper fell kindly to their frontman who toe poked it past the Coton keeper to give Warton a 3-2 victory . A very good entertaining game with Coton so unlucky not to have got a point from this and these teams meet again next Sunday in the reverse fixture where Coton Arms will be looking to repeat this performance .... A top of the table clash saw WILNECOTE QUEENS HEAD maintain their unbeaten status with a hard fought win over ST JOHNS that produced much drama including seven goals and two sending offs . Queens Head were slow out of the blocks and this played into St Johns hands as their youth and exuberance got them a deserved early lead going 1-0 up . Queens replied almost instantaneously as a free-kick from Garvin from just inside the St Johns half found ROBERTS in the six yard box and his header found the back of the net for 1-1 . Queens then went 2-1 up through EVANS who struck a worldy from thirty yards . However this did not deter St Johns and before half-time they were level after some neat footwork their attacker finished coolly for 2-2 . The game was not developing into an ideal advert for football but instead was typical of Sunday League acclaim , whereby tackles were hard for both teams and frustrations for both were mounting . That being said Queens third goal showed true class as from a St Johns attack , Queens played the ball out of defence and a good interchange between Smith and Onions meant Smith could play in EVANS who ran in behind the defence to find himself one on one with the keeper and he slotted home to make it 3-2 . Queens were now in the ascendancy and the chances kept coming but to no avail until Greenwood got the better of his defender and ended up being hauled down inside the box , ONIONS stepped up and finished with aplomb , 4-2 . At this point cautions had been given to several players and it appeared St Johns frustrations were beginning to show as after a spate of tackles Greenwood was again felled in the area and again Onions stepped forward , however this time his shot hit the bar . This spurred St Johns on and after a quick break the ball fell to their attacker at the far post who finished well making it 4-3 . Pressure now mounted on the Queens defence but the Queens attackers were looking to slow the game as the final whistle approached , this erred St Johns players and the challenges got rougher , leading to a two footed lunge on the Queens winger which sparked some pushing and shoving and involvement from the sidelines . After it calmed down the referee saw fit to dismiss the offending St Johns player and a Queens player for reacting angrily to the challenge . With seconds to go after the free-kick Queens held strong and took all three points to go back to the top of the table … DIVISIONAL CUP saw FC WHITE LION take on MIDLAND UNITY in a rather entertaining fixture that had a bit of everything . It started off with White Lion forcing the early pressure and it paid off with them scoring to make it 1-0 when LOCKESY scored . Unity felt it was lucky to be given , as a long ball into the box left a one on one , and even though Unitys keeper got to the ball first , the oncoming player left his stud mark on the keeper , but no foul given and White Lion capitalised on the no keeper and scored . Unity almost scored immediately after as Berry latched onto a through ball from OReilly and narrowly put it wide . Unity would search for an equaliser and it almost came through OReilly but a Lion player cleared from the line with a part of his body .... A real flashpoint occurred next as a player from each team saw red , a Unity player tackled from behind , which was a blatant foul and booking , but the Lion player saw red after moving in with his head , which resulted in him seeing a red card rightly so . Tempers then flared and the Unity player then received a red card for reacting which Unity felt was a decision made as a peace keeping measure . The game fizzled to halftime with the score 1-0 to White Lion . The second half saw Unity begin dominant , soon equalising when Williams crossed for Berry to flick onto OREILLY , who controlled and belted in with his left foot . Unity continued to press and it was that man OREILLY again who latched onto a through ball , and then took his man on and drilled home to give Unity a 2-1 lead . However Unity seemed to take their foot of the gas and Lion found a lifeline as player manager Ben MINSHULL introduced himself into the fray and when a goal kick went wrong and dropped straight to his feet outside the box , he didnt make a mistake and levelled the game after controlling the ball superbly on his chest before letting fly with an unstoppable volley . The game now became end to end , Unity flashing over the bar from close range and Lion rattling the bar the other end , but it was Lion who found the winner after an exquisite pass from that man Minshull again , that gifted team mate DIAMOND the chance on a plate to win it for his side and he duly obliged as it would have been harder to miss than score and White Lion finished 3-2 winners as Unity for all their endeavour could not find another goal ….. DIVISION 4 saw ANKERSIDE RANGERS put themselves firmly back in the promotion chase as they defeated STONYDELPH . The game started fairly even with Ankerside looking in control apart from failing to deal with one early cross and as the half progressed Ankerside created several chances with Tonks , Ormsby , Hitches and Cox all going close but at half time the game was deadlocked at 0-0 . In the second half Ankerside took control and went ahead thanks to a fierce drive from Eddie PICKERING . After this Ankerside were in complete control with Wardle and Megeney impressing at the back and an impressive performance from the midfield . Ankerside then doubled their lead finally after several chances when good work from Hitches saw Matt COX brake through to finish neatly to make it 2-0 . As the game went on Ankerside created a few more chances and maybe should have had more but they got the third to kill the game thanks to an own goal to see them win rather comfortably 3-0 in the end ….. DYNAMO SPORTS BAR hammered six without reply past MERCIAN winning 6-0 . Mercian had travelled to Dynamo looking for a win but that was not to be as they got caught napping early in and Dynamo struck twice with two superb goals . Mercian didnt wake up at all after that and Dynamo played an absolute fantastic game and played Mercian off the park to win rather comfortably in the end …. FAZELEY TOWN RESERVES continued their good form after a disastrous start to the season they now look to of found their feet and this week they beat bottom of the league POLESWORTH SPORTS & SOCIAL 4-2 . Polesworth scorers being Jonathon JUKES on his début and a first goal for the club from Jacob HUGHES …. NEWTON ALLIANCE played GLASCOTE SWIFTS and Alliance were all over the place early on going 1-0 down as Terry ROSE netted for Glascote . It took twenty minutes for Alliance to wake up , and when a great through ball from Jack Heathcote found man of the match Luke HARRIS he made no mistake in putting his side level at 1-1 . Alliance seemed to struggle playing their passing game , but still managed to show boat a little , through Dan Price , new signing Mat Hathaway and of course Luke Harris , between them ripping out the heart of Glascote . Luke HARRIS finishing the game with FIVE goals to his name along with two début goals for HATHAWAY and a goal for PRICE saw Newton Alliance finish 8-2 winners . Glascote never gave in though having their fair share of shots but Alliance keeper Sean Lees bailing out the Newton defence on occasions for mistakes . Glascotes other goal also came from Terry ROSE ….. HURLEY KINGS maintain their push for promotion and runners up spot with a solid 4-0 win over WILNECOTE PRINCE . Hurley went into the game against Prince knowing that the last game they only managed a 1-0 win and once again expected the game to be tight . But Hurley started as they meant to go on with Darren James getting through the defence within the first two minutes only to slip and miss the ball , a few minutes later Tom PEGG , centre back come striker for the day found the back of the net with a scramble in the box and a great bottom corner finish to make it 1-0 . Then ten minutes minutes later a surging run from Jason Brown saw him tripped which allowed Adam EATWELL to curl in his free kick into the top corner to make it 2-0 . Hurley then went all guns blazing missing around eight or nine one on ones to finally score again through a great finish from Darren JAMES to make it 3-0 . Then to finish the game off another surging run caused a free kick on the right hand side for Adam EATWELL to again flat foot the keeper to finish the game off at 4-0 . A solid performance from Hurley meant they only defended one attack and took apart there opponents edging towards next weeks big game away to Stoneydelph to cement there second spot position ….. APPLEBY MAGNA moved into the semi-final of the LEICESTERSHIRE COUNTY SUNDAY PREMIER CUP flying the flag for the Tamworth League with a comprehensive win over QUORN , who hail from the Charnwood Sunday League and arrived with a reputation of a hard working team who like Appleby like to play attractive football and so this game had the making of a cracking game . For the first fifteen minutes both sides tested each other out but after that Appleby put their foot on the gas and pushed Quorn deep into their half . This pressure told when Steve Hart sent Danny TURNER away and he rifled his shot low into the far corner . Spurred on by this goal Appleby were peppering the Quorn goal and it was only a matter of time before they increased their lead . Again good work by Steve Hart caused panic and James FISHER was on hand to benefit with a low hard shot from ten yards to see his side lead 2-0 at the break . Even with the benefit of the wind Quorn were struggling to trouble a resolute Appleby defence and it was with ten minutes remaining before they had a shot on goal .. Before this Appleby had taken a 3-0 lead , from a free kick on the left of the penalty area , Turner and Hart had worked a quick move and before the Quorn defence had chance to react the ball was played across the six yard area and Jamie ABBOTT ghosted in to gleefully blast the ball into the back of the net . Quorn did pull a goal back with only minutes remaining but by then the game was all but over . To their credit a very sporting Quorn team said Appleby were the best team they had played for a long time and they couldnt cope with a very lively front three and were lucky to only concede the three goals in the end …..
