In the dead of night on the 4th October 1957 when all sevice cars had returned to the depot these 2 ex London Felthams make there last fateful journey to Lowfields road scrap yard. Here 562 which had been out of service for some considerable time drags sister car 539 by a length of chain out of Great Wilson street into Meadow lane. Both cars are at a virtual standstill, 562s wheel spinning furiously, motors howling with enough noise to wake the dead at half past midnight for good measure! Sand is been pumped onto the rails to try gain adhesion.
