In the early hours before Jesse left us, Bill and I met with a coordinator for possible kidney donation. After a review of his medical history, she decided Jesses kidneys could not be used. Jess had received injury to his kidneys in the fall from one of the antibiotics used to treat his lung infection. Although his kidneys had recovered, just the history of the injury was enough to rule him out as a donor. Here is an explanation of the process and criteria for organ donation.
