Incredible ... Griffon Ramsey sculpts things with chainsaws. In this case, she sculpts Groot from a piece of red cedar. At about a minute into the video, she talks about her process: When I see something I can incorporate into the design as if Id planned it (and I never plan it but sometimes I get lucky), I try to preserve some of those interesting details in the wood. That REALLY struck me ... I have similar happenings when building ... looking at a part and suddenly realizing exactly how I can make it fit, or suddenly having a flash of inspiration of what I could do to make something work better. When that happens, I know Im usually onto something really cool. She has a lot of interesting info on how she works and a bit about her background, and the final result is breathtaking.
