India is diverse in terms of history, race, culture, language, religion etc. It is not easy to estimate the number of communities belonging to different cultural, religious, linguistic etc. backgrounds. It is well known that after independence, no nation is created on the basis of such element except a few states like Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu etc. But today there number of ethnic movements are emerging to create separate states within sovereign India on ethnic lines. But how it is feasible is much difficult to predict since diversity is one of the important features of India. In this regard, i would like to argue that the Koch Rajbangshis of Assam are demanding Komotapur on the basis of their history. If Komotapur is to be created on historical line then other communities are also having their own history. On this logic, other communities should not be deprived of getting separate states. But how it is possible? However, the demand for Bodoland is not only based on historical reasons. Demand for Bodoland is the result of long time exploitation, discrimination, deprivation etc. in case of equality, justice, opportunities etc on the part of people living in one of the most backward place bordering Bhutan and northern part of river Brahmaputra. So Bodoland is not only the cost of historical, cultural, religious, linguistic identity of the Bodos but for those poor deprived people of the deprived region. So there is huge difference between the Bodoland demand and Komotapur demand since Komotapur is being demanded only the basis of historical point.
