Indian Sociological Society, founded in 1951, is going to hold 40th national convention at Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapeeth, Varanasi from 29th Nov. The all India gathering of more 2500 sociologists is being inaugurated for the first time by the first citizen President Pranab Mukherji with focus on development, diversity and democracy. The conference will have presentations of more than 1200 papers in 4 panels and 24 Research Committees in 3 days. It will be also an occasion of honouring 4 eminent sociologists with Lifetime Achievement Award - Imtiaz Ahmed, Prakash Pimple, Ramesh Tiwari and Satyendra Tripathy. There will be representation of sociological scholarship from Africa, Latin America, North America and South Asia also. Anand Kumar, President, Indian Sociological Society.
