Insight for today...Earlier I sat solo at a small busy local vietnamese coffee shop. Every single person near by was mesmerized by their smartphone, tablet, or laptop. With no electronic device in my possession, I was forced to sit, watch, listen, and absorb my surroundings, the hustle and bustling streets of Ho Chi Minh in front of me, motorbikes fleeing in every which direction as if they had just left a crime scene, the smell of roasted coffee beans lingering in the air, recognized sounds of your typical coffee shop music (Adele, Norah Jones, Amy Winehouse, who happen to be my favorites) and I was able to really enjoy, taste, and smell my favorite beverage of all time with no distractions from a small lit up screen. I must say, that cup of joe wouldnt have been the same if I had buried myself in an iphone or ipad. It sounds silly, but it was the best cup of coffee my taste buds ever had. I realized that sometimes the best way to connect with the world is to be disconnected. Of course me writing about it on Facebook later kind of defeats the purpose, but my point is, you should just take a break every once in a while...
