Interesting. In order to survive the church must admit the possibility of no god. You could say that they are trying to absorb atheists, and they most certainly are, but in order to do so they must publicly admit that atheists can be good people. Personally I think the only way religion can keep afloat is to slowly become more and more vague, more diffuse, more secular. God becomes more difficult to define, smaller and farther away. (Now if they can just get rid of this magical Jesus character….)
