Interesting learning past 2 days and statements those shook me:( 1.) While my belief is smoking and drinking is a bad habit and I keep giving gyan to those I feel should be away from these, here I met a supervisor who helped pick half truck of garbage from front of our office and asked me to pay money to Garbage pickers... He said give them some money for tea. So I gave them Rs 50 which then after negotiations reached to Rs 150/- while I know tea doesn’t cost much and money will be used for Drinking, I questioned and told hope this is not for drinking and actually couldn’t argue while he made a Statement, “ Madam the smell in dump yard (place where Garbage is dumped) is so pathetic that you will omit and faint within fraction of seconds, but these Garbage pickers have to work there and to tolerate the smell only solution they find is to drink and work” 2.) Suresh, my Visually Challenged student, Qualified from IIM, Calcutta few months back is still struggling to get a job because of his Disability... Statement that has now motivated me to write a blog on Sensitivity and Inclusiveness taking Suresh as example... “Maam, Corporate talk about Equal Opportunities and claim to have been sensitised towards the issue, but the moment I say I am Visually Impaired, they hesitate and say currently there is no opening!!! Who will trust me???”
