Interference between two progressive waves traveling in opposite directions produces a standing wave. This video shows that there is a node at each end. There is two progressive waves (green and cyan) and the resulting standing wave (yellow). Main points: 1. if u clearly see green and cyan color wave separately, u will be found that both are moving in opposite direction and superposition of these two waves produced standing wave(yellow color). 2. At two end points node are formed on yellow color which tells us displacement of these points are zero. at node points displacements due to both progressive wave( green and cyan) are exactly opposite to each other and due to superposition net displacement will be zero. IN THIS VIDEO THERE R FIVE NODES ARE PRESENT. TRY TO FIND ON YELLOW COLOR. 3. THERE IS 4 ANTI NODES ARE PRESENT. These are those points on standing wave whose amplitude are maximum. At this anti node points if u see clearly displacements due to two progressive wave(green and cyan) are exactly same in magnitude and direction hence net displacement of those points are maximum to other point in same loop. 4. one loop is made by two node points and since displacement of node points are zero hence work done by tension in string are zero and hence energy of each loop are conserved. also if u see clearly then work done by tension on anti node point is also zero because tension is perpendicular to velocity of anti node hence energy is conserved between node and antinode at all time. 5. this represent 4th harmonic and 3rd overtone frequency mode. 6. at node point energy are only is potential energy which varying with respect to time while antinode points have only K.E. which also varying w.r.t. time now other than node and antinodes all particles have both K.E.+ P.E. and total energy is varying w.r.t. time for individual particle but sum of energy between two node are constant.
