Introducing Princess Emily Jayne Sorey! Princess Emily Jayne Sorey is the 18 year old daughter of Tom and Wendy Sorey of Pendleton. She graduated this year from Pendleton High School and is now attending Blue Mountain Community College with plans to pursue a master’s degree in Education with an emphasis on Special Education. Sorey has been a member of FFA, active in 4-H, and served as Secretary for the Intermountain High School Rodeo where she competed as a team member for four years, qualifying all four years for the State Finals and is a four time Silver State International Rodeo qualifier. Her high school accommodations include Honor Roll and three-time nominee for the PHS Citizen’s Cup award. Emily’s family history with the Pendleton Round-up is star studded. Royal members include her mother Wendy (Wagner) Sorey 1986; aunts Katy (Sorey) Holdman 1984, Whitney (Wagner) Porter 1990, Jill (Sorey) Miller 2003; and cousin Morgan Bergevin 2013. Her father Tom Sorey is the 1996 & 1999 Pendleton Round-Up Steer Roping Champion, and great-uncle Joe Bergevin won Calf Roping in 1956 as well as the 1959 Steer Roping Championship. It is no surprise that Emily has been riding since birth. “Little girls all have dreams of what they want to be when they grow up,”Sorey recalls, “ I would race across my own arena after announcing myself as a Pendleton Round-Up Princess, standing in my stirrups like I was jumping the fence and waving to the imaginary crowd as I galloped my horse around the edge.” Emily has been a lifetime Round-Up volunteer along with most of her family. They have also helped with the Children’s Rodeo for many years.
