Introducing the Diocese of Mackenzie-Fort Smith In his Apostolic Letter Ecclesia in America, then Pope (now Saint) John Paul II asked the dioceses of the Western Hemisphere to consider how they might enter into partnerships of mutual solidarity and support as an expression of ecclesial communion (cf. EA, number 37.) To mark its centennial in November 2012, and in keeping with its missionary nature, the Archdiocese of Edmonton entered a partnership with the Diocese of Mackenzie-Fort Smith in the Northwest Territories. “We each have gifts to share with the other in response to our respective needs.” This video, which was premiered at a gala fundraiser on November 21, 2012, offers a look at the northern diocese through the eyes of Bishop Murray Chatlain, past Bishop of Mackenzie-Fort Smith, and now Archbishop of Keewatin-Le Pas. youtube/watch?v=0HHadwS7BNA
