Ipinapauna ko po, am not complaining, nagsesentimyento lang.... this morning, i was supposed to visit a friend in pallocan & instead of taking the car, i decided to just take a walk across & use the footbridge. First time i had a chance to see & use the footbridge since it was opened to the public. First things that i noticed was that the ways to & from the footbridge are not user-friendly especially to PWDs & the seniors as the concrete steps are too steep to navigate. The walk was convenient along the bridge, soft breeze to greet you & am sure much more convenient & economical than using the boats. But thats just to it, the footbridge of course allows people to traverse Calumpang but did it evoke pride & feeling of fulfillment in me? None at all, of course it is already given that this footbridge is overpriced, but at least somehow, this administration should have put something people can be proud of instead of something na better than nothing. This just goes to show their penchant for mediocrity. Yes the footbridge is able to serve its purpose, but for the money allocated for such a structure, a much better, more convenient & user-friendly features should have been incorporated. The BLTBCo of old conveys people from Batangas to Manila just the same, but can you compare that to the convenience afforded by the buses plying the route today? Yes, the old route of highways allows people to travel to manila, but how long was the travel time? Is the LRT or the MRT even comparable to the subways of New York, London, HongKong or the Metro of Dubai, although they serve the same purpose. Did riding the LRT or MRT bring pride to the people using these trains? Compared to the feeling of riding the subway trains? Did it make us proud using the NAIA Terminal 1 or is arriving in Terminal 3 of Dubai really make us so overwhelmed by its grandeur? Am sure we can always say that were still 3rd world, but I dont think we as a people deserve this culture of pwede na attitude being displayed by the officials of Batangas City. Its people deserve no less than efficient, world-class facilities & thoroughfares. the people deserve something to be proud of. WE ARE NOT MEDIOCRE PEOPLE BUT OUR LEADERS ARE... MAKE US PROUD INSTEAD!
